Are you ready for some... football? CONTEST POST!!!!

Football cards on a baseball card blog?!?!?! This can only mean one thing: CONTEST TIME!!!!

My LCS owner Nathan over at BigHitsSportscards gave me a few cards to give away. So before this goes any further, head over to their eBay shop and look around... no, really, go check it out... see if there's something you just have to have. They have some great cards!

Alright, so here is what I'm giving away:

I want to give these away to three separate people, and I want them to be valued by those who receive them. So here's what I'm going to do. You get 1 comment. In that comment, explain which ONE of these cards you want, and why you are a fan of that player. For each of these players, I'll take those who commented and randomize those entries. I will give these cards away on Friday, so you have all week to leave a comment! Anyone who wants to pimp this contest, if you win, I'll also throw in a card from your favorite baseball team!

  1. this is an easy one... by far the best quarterback of the three, Troy Aikman out of Oklahoma via UCLA.
I liked watching him in college and then when he went to the NFL 1st overall to Dallas. A 1-15 start, but a chemistry between him and a receiver named Michael Irvin started. Then another draft and a running back named Emmitt Smith.
These Triplets went on to dominate football like no other before or since.

  2. This is an easy one, Tom Terrific. He came out of nowhere to take the team to a new level once Drew Bledsoe got knocked out with an injury. It's been fun watching him go from a QB that played well enough to win while the Pats D led the way to victories to a QB that regularly does the spectacular. His record setting season with Randy Moss was a beautiful thing. These days, he does a lot more with a lot less than some other QBs out there that he's constantly compared to.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. Sam, buddy, pal--you know I have to have that Brady. I just mentioned needing that card in this post, http://toomanycg.blogspot.com/2011/11/on-cloud-nine.html, because I already grabbed the other two. More importantly, Brady produced the most memorable sports moment of my first year at Michigan, 2001, stunning the world by coming from nowhere and winning it all that season after being an unheralded draft pick. His performance since has been the stuff of legends, and his ability to command an offense and come through in the clutch is unrivaled--just witness his ability to put up mind-boggling numbers with any receiver, or his amazing three (and counting) Super Bowl rings. Nobody does it better, and I'd sure love to have the third card in that trio. Thanks for giving these away!

  4. Easy decision. I would want the Joe Montana. When I was 8 my mom bought me a maroon #16 shirt. I wore that thing until I was too fat for it.

    Come on, Joe!

  5. I would want the Brady, but it wouldn't be for me. My boss' son is a huge Pats fan. So it would probably score me some brownie points right before our holiday bonuses cone out.

  6. This is OH so easy for me... If I had to pick one, my favorite would be John Elway since he spent one season as a pitcher for the Yankees, and since I don't do football, I'll leave this one for the folks that do. Great contest idea Sam...

  7. Troy Aikman all the way. He's the only guy my wife said she would leave me for! Seriously though, at least I hope, she wouldn't do that...would she? I do know she was heartbroken when he got married. Troy was one of those guys that didn't put up huge numbers, but he just won games. He's a pretty good on Fox too.

  8. Troy Aikman, what a beast! even though he played of the sucky sooners ( hookem horns!!) he also played for my beloved cowboys, although he had a rough starting year going 0-11 the next year he came back to take them to the playoffs and then later on he took them to superbowls, and he was a pro bowl play 6 years in a row!! He was a total beat in my opinion.

  9. It is "Joe Cool" for me. I've been following him since his college days. He has had to prove himself throughout his career and fought to recover from injuries to keep on the gridiron. A separated shoulder while he was at Notre Dame, back surgery with the 49ers and an elbow injury that led him to the Chiefs. He won the Cotton Bowl while he was sick, requiring an IV and Chicken Soup during halftime to keep him going. To be able to bounce back, time and time again is a true sign of greatness. He has been the highlighted card, front and center, on my blog for as long as I have had it. This is an easy choice for me. Please put me in for the Joe Montana.

  10. Montana all the way! The others are cool, but Joe was my intro to football. The Catch is my earliest football memory. Still can't hate the Niners because of him.

  11. Very easy pick for me, the Montana. The Catch, of course thrown by Montana is my earliest pro sports memory. I remember the exact place I was watching it with my dad and to this day can remember the elation of my dad, myself and all but one other person watching the game with us. He was dressed in Cowboys garb and was beyond crushed.

  12. Simple, has to be Brady. He is oh so pretty. I am oh so pretty. It is, as the Germans would say, a match machined to the micron.

  13. I'm a closet 49ers fan, and Montana is my second-favorite QB of all time (behind Peyton). That's also a VERY nice looking card, and would be a nice addition to my Montana binder.

  14. I love Joe Montana. He was always cool in the clutch. The Super Bowls were amazing, but the KC v Denver game in Denver against Elway is the one I'll never forget. Each champ puched back and forth with Joe coming out on top!
