Group Break Cancelled

Due to a lack of teams being claimed and not being able to carry the break without more participants, I am cancelling the 6 box break of Bowman Platinum. Refunds are in progress...

So, to turn this frustration into a positive... please, give me ideas... what product or products would you like to bust? What is your preferred price point? Do you prefer 2 teams (one picked, one random) or do you want to claim just your one team? What made this break unattractive? Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks!

I've added a poll with some ideas for a next group break. I would like to do a case, but I want to make sure it's a product a lot of people would like to bust. If you have an "other" choice, please leave a comment on this post to say what product you'd be interested in! Thanks!

  1. I abstained mainly for monetary reasons, but I would otherwise be on the fence - I'm not big on Bowman products period. I'm mostly interested in 1998-2003 stuff, and the newest releases. On product that's been out for a while, I don't like going too expensive (about $10 for one team with several boxes), but on new stuff I know I'll get more bang for my buck since I haven't opened any, so I don't mind paying a bit more (like the Lineage case break at Community Gum).

  2. I find it easier to fill breaks when there are only 15 slots. It seems most people like being able to pick at least one of two teams.

That said I opted to go all 30 teams for my break this month to give more people a (potential) chance at landing a Pujols and/or Ichiro RC. I still need more teams to be claimed too. You interested in the Astros?

I would've jumped in had the Braves not been taken. Money is always tight so when I'm looking to join a group break I like to see $15 or less.

    Just my 2 cents.

  3. I stayed out simply because I have the team set already, so I would have only been in it for any hits and parallels that may have come my way.

Also, I like the 2 team deal. The break fills up quicker and I know I'll get some trade bait along with the team I wanted!

  4. I love your breaks, but the number of base Rangers in BP wasn't enough to get me excited. Plus, I'm trying to spend as little money this month as possible!

  5. Chrome and Triple Threads would be pretty cool. Triple Threads because there are almost never PC breaks (only draft or random breaks) for high-end products, and Chrome/Update because it would be cool to get PC cards even though I probably won't bust either product for a while.

  6. It's hard for me to get in on group breaks because being a Braves collector there is a lot of competition for the Braves slots and I'm usually too late in signing up to get the Braves.

  7. I was out this round for lack of funding, and there were not enough Rangers players to entice me into it, sorry Samuel.

  8. $20 was the right price point, I just already had the set. I actually like Bowman products, I've had a lot of luck with them recently and I think they look nice and have a good feel.

Besides having the set, the auto/relic list was also kind of short, at least for my team. But that wasn't a deciding factor.

I'd be up for another Upper Deck break, maybe something recent, 2009 SP Authentic, Piece of History, Timeline, 2008 UD X, etc. Or something new, 2011 Topps Chrome, or Lineage maybe.

  9. i gotta go along with your other comments on a few points: money is always tight, but i still spend it. $15 is better than $20, but $20s better than $30. i would like to play but jaybarkerfan is the king of first dibs on dodgers when theres a break. i like the idea of piece of history product. one that we dont see or get every day. chrome is always at my store if i want it.

  10. Actually, I would like to second/third/whatever the vote for APOH. I picked up some of it back when it was released, but I wouldn't mind more.

  11. I like it when the checklist potential is taken into account for the team-pricing...that is, the "popular" teams with more potential cards cost more, while the "lowly" teams (Pirates, Royals, etc.) are less.

Another blogger's break this summer for Topps Lineage was charging a flat-rate per team, but didn't realize that the Royals had ONE player in the base set. That's it. And he wouldn't drop the price.
