Christmas Money Spent!

Well folks, I got some money for Christmas and I blew it at the card shop! Surprised?

First, 2 boxes of 2014 Panini 75th Hall Of Fame:
Another Sutter auto to my collection. Not too shabby on the Fingers and the Cepeda base autos. The highlight of course is the Winfield auto numbered 1/7! Got a bunch of base cards and parallels if anyone is looking to fill set needs!

Next, a dozen boxes of disappointment, I mean Archives signature...
Grissom, Olerud, Foster, Abbott, Martinez and Fingers... I put those in my rankings of worst to best. Apparently it was my day for Rollie Fingers autos! All for trade.

Finally, a great Archives auto... A 1/1 of the Big Unit:
What a great card!

Thanks to the various relatives who made this possible!

A Trade Post and Some eBay Pick Ups!

My buddy Jim over at GCRL (that's Garvey Cey Russell and Lopes for the uninitiated) may not be bloggin' but he is still active and trading. I have some goodies headed his way after his absolutely wowed me with an Astros trade package. Here's the highlights!
Whoa! That's a lot of Astros! I will forgive him for the Carlos Lee. I will forgive him for the Carlos Lee. I will forgive him for the Carlos Lee. Ok, I think I'm alright now. That Biggio is AWESOME and numbered out of 77/100! SWEEEEEEET! And that horizontal Bagwell is 79/150! WHOA!!!!

But the center of the deal is this beauty:
Ye shall be in awe of Nolan and the Dome Logo!!!! YE SHALL!!!! I DECLARE IT SO!!!!!!!

Thanks for the great trade Jim. Your shipment label was printed today and will head to the post office tomorrow with some great surprises!

Alright, up next are a couple of eBay pick ups!
I absolutely loved this triple relics card and couldn't pass it up! Even with Singleton on it. This one is numbered out of just /18! Gotta say, my love for Triple Threads will never fade...

I have seen several of the following card pop up on eBay lately and I am SHOCKED at how low they are going... I picked this one up at the bargain price of $12.51 or thereabouts. A HOFer Autograph, numbered out of 50... for less than $15?!?!?!? Are you kidding, of course I'm all over it!
Hope you all had a splendid Thanksgiving. Can't wait for Christmas to roll around!

I Went Black Friday Shopping!

The great part of living in Colorado Springs is that I have an LCS to go to now and took advantage of Black Friday packs from Panini! First up, the boxes I bought!

First a box of 2015 Topps football. Got one guaranteed hit, it is for trade:
Next up, a box of 2015 Prizm, lots of colored refractors and such but here are the autos:
The Hunter is /150, the Funchess is /75! Not too shabby.

The final football box is 2015 Playbook and I think I got a hot box as I got two books and a relic!
Not bad! All for trade, didn't get me any Texans!

I did pick up a box of 2014 75th Anniversary baseball and got a mega hit!
That Lou Brock is numbered 4/4!!!!!!! Whoa!!!!

So with my Black Friday packs, I got two relic hits!
Couldn't have asked for better subjects!

All in all, a great haul although I wish I could have gotten some Astros and Texans!

Cards Picked Up This Weekend

So here are some pick ups from an LCS trip this weekend.

Two boxes of UD Dinosaurs. Really a fun bust. Got 2 1/1 sketch cards. You have a 1:1000 pack chance of pulling a fossil relic redemption card. It's a lot like Goodwin focused on dinosaurs.
Next up, a box of Panini 75th Cooperstown from last year. Not a bad box.
Finally a box of Topps Supreme. Nothing too exciting.
The wife and I also busted a box of A&G, but it was just horrible so no pics. Although I did get a Didi Gregorious auto.

Have a great Sunday.

Recent PC Pick Ups!

So along with wanting to trade more on the blog, I also want to show off my stuff. Almost everything in this post will be eBay or Twitter pick-ups, along with some trades I've forgotten to brag on. If these are cards I got from one of you in trade, I'm sorry for being a bad post-er of trades and I will be better...
Clemens in two uniforms is just cool. Schefter is part of a new section of my PC: TV Announcers and Personalities - this includes my Larry King swatch and my Erin Andrews autograph. Just some random Astros and Texans pick ups in there as well.

So I went a little Biggio crazy and snatched up some great cards. I will say the GQ and Tribute were eBay pick ups, but the Museum Collection is straight from Wes over at JayBarkerFan's Junk; he actually pulled it while at my former LCS in Spanish Fort, Alabama so a huge thanks for the deal, I sent him a Hammerin' Hank Aaron autograph that I got from a group break. My big question on the GQ mini book is this: where did the black and white patch come from. I can't remember the Astros having that much black in any uniform with the stark white patching.
Again, more random Texans and a nice Springer numbered out of just 25 from National Treasure. Oh what Panini could do with a license, this card would look amazing with logos and such.

Well, that wraps this post up, hopefully I don't go another 2-3 months before I post again...

No Really, I'm Still Here... Trade With Me!

Hey everyone, I wanted to stop in and post a blog on this lazy Sunday. I have been a horrible blogger of late. I've gotten lazy. It's been faster and easier to show off my stuff on Twitter (@thedimwit). Well, I want to post here more because I'm getting no where with trading on Twitter. I figure the trade lands are more fertile in the blogs, where people are actually worried about their collections and organizing their trade bait rather than trying to make a quick buck selling their cards via tweet.

So here's the deal: I WANT TO TRADE. I want to get these cards that don't fit in my collection moving out to you all and for you to be able to do the same. So here we go, throwing up a bunch of trade bait and hoping to get some offers rolling in... So, first up I have a bunch of hits from Panini's newest USA product, including a nice patch #'ed /5!
Ok, so the top middle is Lance McCullers, he's not going anywhere. Anything else = trade bait. The John Dearth is #'ed 4/5.

So here's a sampling of what else I have to offer... if you have Astros stuff you want to trade or get rid of, let me know, I'd love to overpay for it. Really, I've got trade bait coming out of my ears.
And finally, for you soccer fans (and loyalists who read to the end of my posts), this is up for trade as well...
You pigs...

WHOA!!!!

Had to post this! I have been more active on Twitter lately, but had to share this with those who don't follow me there. I have been busting a lot of 2012 Americana Heroes & Legends lately, like by the hobby case. I am chasing a master set, as much as possible anyways!!!

So last night I pulled one of the more expensive and hard to pull cards from this set!

I also manage to pull this beaut numbered out of just /9!!!!!!
That's a full color relic of Alex Morgan! That's a section of numbering in there as well! For some reason they limited hers to just 9 copies while others in this subset are in the hundreds of copies!

What a great case!

Surprise Package from Wes!

Wes from Jaybarkerfan's Junk is up to it again! Sending out surprise packages all over the blog-o-sphere! Here's what showed up at my PO Box!
First of all, this picture doesn't do the stack of cards justice... there's a joke to be made here, but I'll leave it up to your imaginations...

Three relics came out of that stack!
I don't believe I've added a Roy Oswalt relic in YEARS and I really don't think I have too many of Brad Lidge either! Any time I can add a Berkman to my collection, it's a great day...

But as amazing as all the Astros cards that I got, I could believe my eyes when I saw this AMAZING PIECE OF CARDBOARD!
Yea, that's right, BE JEALOUS. Limited to just 98 copies and featuring a high gloss finish, this custom by Topps' online store is amazing. Just to show off some more, here's Wes' back side... errr... ummm... I mean the back of the card...
Yea, sticker of authenticity too, who you like them apples????? JBF has been called generous, eccentric and mysterious? I think he may have quoted me on that one! HA! And he does like to give stuff away for sure... will have to dig deep and find some cards to send back to you Wes! Thanks for another amazing bubble mailer full of awesome cards!

Final 5 Hits from my American Heroes & Legends Blaster Case

Well, here I am back to wrap up this series of posts... Final 5 hits from the blaster case, here we go:
I haven't pulled but one or two of these Olympics relics. This is decent one of Lisa Fernandez! I really like the design on these relics.
Another PROOF! These are all numbered /99. Another Hero from the Tuskeegee Airmen. I really need to go back and watch the movie!
How about another Olympian! Dan Jansen, I now have his relic and his auto from the set!
Shade Lee with another appearance just to remind you that he's a awesome. Don't mess with Shade.
Finally we end the blaster with Dick Gordon. How awesome?!?!?! He piloted the Gemini AND Apollo spacecrafts.

Overall, I definitely feel that this blaster case was well worth the deal at DACardworld if you're into these type of relics. I think it's going to be pretty rare to pull an auto from these Panini blasters but I love these relics and may get me another case some time soon!

Let's Take a Look at Hits 11 Through 15 of the Blast Case

Tired of seeing this yet? I'm not... :-D

Edgar Mitchel! He walked on the MOON! THE MOON!!!!!
Oh the irony of getting Lovell right after Mitchell. This is actually now the third of this same Jim Lovell relic, so if anyone wants to trade, hit me up!
I now have the base relic, and the Olympics auto of Hamilton from this set. Not too shabby at all!
How awesome is this card? Shade Lee looks like a bad ass who you wouldn't want to mess with. His name is Shade. I bet he was the Tuskegee Airman who kept all the others in line.
Finally for this post, we have the man, the myth and the legend Walt Cunningham. In 1968, he was the part of the first 3-man crew to board the Apollo crafts and orbit earth in preparation for the moon missions.

Well, one more post tomorrow and we'll have this blaster case complete.

Next Five Hits From My Blaster Case!

Well here are hits 6-10 from my Americana Heroes & Legends blasters:
A sweet PROOF of Tuskegee Airman Roscoe Draper!
Wow, a Roscoe Brown full color parallel relic! Nice!
The Olympics return! Eric Heiden!
Whoa! Bonnie Blair! She is one of the hardest relics to pull from this product!
Finally for this post, we have a PROOF of astronaut Fred Gregory!

We are halfway through the case!

Another DACardworld Splurge!

So I found that I could get a case of blasters from 2012 Americana Heroes and Legends for only 129.00 from DACardworld so I went for it! 20 hits!!! Tons of inserts! Let's do it!
Beautiful!
Love the Tuskegee Airmen relics!
HOOT!
Another great Astronaut relic!
You'll see this guy again!
Olympics are always cool!

Next post will be hits 6-10!

DACardsworld Purchase

Hey everyone! I recently finished off my Christmas money spending with an order of some clearance and low priced items from DACardworld. I love shopping their 2011-2012 stuff, it's right in that peak "we need to get this inventory out of here, but it's not vintage-y enough" price point that adds some value! First of all, I'll show off my purchase "filler purchases" that got me up to the free shipping threshold, the "Hit Parade" packs that promised 2-3 hits per pack:

There are inserts on the left column, autos in the middle and relics down the left side:
The only recognizable name from the autos is Jeremy Hermida. A very nice HOF relic there from Steve Carlton. It'll be a nice add to the trade bait folder!

Next up, freebie hit! If you order so much product, you get free stuff, I took a flyer on some Razor Poker cards not really expecting much! I got an auto out of the twelve hanger packs that came free!
I recognize Hoyt from the WSOP Main Event shows that were at the peak of popularity in my college days, and I played a LOT of poker back then as well. This'll go in my "Oddball" keepers binder!

I took a flyer on another product that got some bad reviews when it came out. 2012 UD SP Signature Edition is not the best in that it has no player photos even. Just wording and a sticker auto. So I got one pack that guaranteed 3 cards with one of them being a multi-auto card:
Ben Zobrist in the upper left, not bad. Denard Span on the top right, again not horrible. And the triple auto is Aaron Crow, Nick Franklin and Kyle Gibson numbered out of /25. I'm pretty happy with it for the price I paid. The triple auto has one listing on eBay at $400 OBO, I think I may list this one at $100 OBO and see if I get any takers. I think even $100 may be a bit high for those three.

Next up, I got a couple of retail gravity feeds of 2012 Panini Americana Heroes & Legends SUPER cheap. And I'm pretty happy with the results:
I ALWAYS love getting astronaut relics! That's Jack Lousma in the top left and Hoot Gibson on the bottom left. The upper right is a bronze proof of a lady soccer player and then the bottom right is a Tuskegee Airman Roscoe Draper. Very happy with the relics! Again, if anyone wants a complete set of this product, just let me know, all I'll ask is for you to pay shipping. I currently have 3 hand collated and once I do some more sorting I may have 2-3 more. I really like this product and it's cheap enough to buy hobby boxes and the like to get the hits at a reasonable rate.

Finally, I got a box of 2013 Panini USA Baseball. This is another underrated product in my humble opinion... For right at $40 you get a total of 6 hits and the autograph checklist is pretty impressive. Some of these Team USA guys are really starting to get drafted and the value is going to go up as guys make the majors. Here's my hits:
That's Jameson Taillon first up out of /800. Then a red auto Jose Trevino out of just /25! He's a Rangers prospect who had a decent run at short-season low A ball last year after being drafted. The redemption is for a vet, Jason Veritek. It shows to be expired but it ran through on Panini's website. I've found they still honor most expired redemptions (unlike Topps). Finally my relics are three guys I haven't heard of really, but I'll look them up for sure: Randal Grichuk, Carson Sands and Albert Almora.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. Most of this is trade bait, so let me know if you're interested!
