I got another shipment in from the old LCS in Spanish Fort, AL. Here's my non-Astros portion of the shipment:
A solid bunch of stars! Alomar, Puckett, and Juan-Gone from Pantheon... with Jose Fernandez, Souza and Red S. from Prime Cuts!
Can't argue with a little bit of Atluve and Bagwell!
Thanks for stopping by folks, let me know if you like anything you see! The 6 non-Astros will probably go on eBay tomorrow along with 44 other cards! I've been on a listing spree lately!

Catching Up on Random Pick Ups and Trade Galore
Hey everyone, sorry, been a little lazy lately... back at it... I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday getting some cards on eBay. If you want to take a look, follow the link here. If not, no harm and no foul.
First up, we have some random pick-ups from around the web... whether it be FB or Twitter or eBay...
Yes, more Prime Cuts! And how about that Kyle Tucker auto from Bowman's Best? Kid is going to be a star and I picked that up for $7 shipped! Woot woot!
Next up, a trade with my buddy Greg over at Plaschke, Thy Blog Name is Too Long! In another of our epic back and forth deals, I sent over a bunch of A&G and he sent me these great cards!
I love what Panini tried with the die cuts, even if the end product is a bit odd aesthetically speaking. Nice Pettitte and Bagwell relics. While not a fan of Joe Morgan the Anti-Astro broadcaster (someone is still bitter about the Astros trading him 5 decades ago and it's tiresome at this point Joe), I love the Air Mail cards! Finally, how about that old Tobacco card?!?!?! Greg, send those tobacco cards any time you feel like it, I love them!
Next up, a trade with long time blog reader Jeffrey. He picked up my recent group break Alan Trammell auto relic and he sent me this card!
That's a dual patch of Biggio and Bagwell, it wouldn't can right so I did a pic on the phone. It's numbered out of /50 and has two sweeeeeeet patches!
Finally a twitter trade with a PADRES FAN! Yes, they exist in enough numbers to find one on Twitter! A few cards his way and I get this AMAZING Altuve lot!
Even the base cards in Tribute are slick. The relics aren't too shabby either, and I like that they used different colors of jersey in the two different numbered parallels.
But the star of the entire deal is this AMAZING card:
Yep, the logo man portion of a ball that was used in the game in which Jose hit his 1,000 career hit. I love love love love love that Topps finally went back to some use of certifications and holograms to show that their relics are legit. It's not a ton of effort to do it (in my humble opinion) and the peace of mind it gives collectors is worth it. Especially when you see patches and jersey swatches so easily swapped out on cards and resold. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but "Thanks Topps and great job."
Alright, back to your regularly scheduled episode of the Twilight Zone...

Lubbock Pick-Ups
We took a trip to Lubbock today and found a card shop. I bought a few packs of Tristar Odyssey and a box of Leaf History of Baseball.
Monte Irvin, not a bad auto to get either!
I wasn't too excited about this note card signature of Tim Raines. Yes, he's a HOFer but he's just not a guy who I ever remember is playing against and being scared of him doing damage. But, he is in the Hall.
Like Appling, a guy I always heard about but couldn't ever tell you much about! Seemed to have a pretty good career, and again a HOF-er!
Finally we have Negro League legend Judy Johnson! Could have done better in History of Baseball, but I'll gladly add this on to my collection!
Not too shabby on the Gooden RC auto!

Trades and Pick-Ups
So my Astros are scuffling a bit to start the season, despite the 3-3 record our offense is really struggling. Altuve, Correa and Bregman are all around the Mendoza line and the rest of the line-up isn't helping a whole lot either. Gurriel is great defensively but hasn't hit a lick yet. Hopefully it's just early season struggles and adjustments that'll work themselves out soon enough. The good part is that our starting rotation is overachieving and keeping us in games.
So, I recently pulled off another trade with a twitter friend, who I've traded quite a bit with: @pnoydude82. He always seems to find Astros I don't have already... here's my side of the loot:
A couple of SWEEEET Altuve cards!
And a Musgrove /150 auto. I have the red version of the Vizcaino but figured I'd add the base version as well. Still not a fan of manu-relics, but guess we can't avoid them any more, Topps is determined to shove them down our throats and make us like them. Meh. He also included a Topps Archives Billy Wagner auto, but I couldn't seem to get it to scan right in the one-touch.
Also, have a couple of random pick-ups:
I really like NT, just think the price point is a bit high. Nice cheap pick-up on a relic card of Jose and numbered out of just /49.
Finally, an AWESOME 2/5 relic of Biggio from my new most favorite set Prime Cuts. A nice 3 color patch with a bit of jersey attached! How can you look at this card and not love it?
Have a great lazy Sunday everyone!

Annoyance with Blogger... and some randomness in the mail...
So after yesterday's mail day, I feel all other mail days are diminished in magnitude... but alas, I will keep blogging them all!
But first, I have to ask if anyone is having the same problem I am with blogger. I comment on people's posts, or they comment on my posts, and I get an e-mail saying the e-mail is undeliverable and I never get a notification that there was a comment - and/or I assume the person whose blog I commented on also gets an e-mail saying something was undeliverable. For instance, yesterday's post, I only got 3 of the 6 notifications that a comment was made, the other 3, NOTHING. Anyone else experience this? I think it's a problem with Yahoo, but I can't nail it down... anyone have a solution??? I've noticed I only get the e-mail when I'm posting a comment on a blogger.com based blog with my current blogger login profile...
On to the cards... a couple of good ones... first up, our #1 draft pick from last year, Forrest Whitley:
Ok, so the kid doesn't have the most amazing signature... but if he's the next McCullers, I won't complain! Nice refractor auto!
Next up, an amazing Biggio!!!!!
Look at that PATCH!!!!!!!!! 😲 I had to keep from drooling on it while I had it out of the sleeve... That's bat, PATCH, jersey and bat... 1844 is the number of runs Biggio scored in his career! Again, love the design from Prime Cuts!
Alright, hope everyone has a great day... packages going out tomorrow to zip codes: 48072, 89139 and 90230!
